2023 Autumn Mini Family Photoshoots

Aug 20, 2022 | Autumn, Family photography, Family shoot

It’s 2023 and I’m very excited to be able to offer my clients Autumn Mini Family Photoshoots on my family farm, in Stoke By Clare, Suffolk.   We are only a 30-minute drive from Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Sudbury, and 45 minutes from Cambridge, Colchester and Braintree, so we are very accessible for clients in the surrounding areas!

These 30 minute Mini Photoshoots are perfect for families who would like to update their family photos without having to invest in a full family shoot.

This is suitable for individuals, couples, small and large families with children of all ages, and you are welcome to bring your family pets too if you like.

The photos will look wonderful displayed around your home all year round, but they also make great Christmas presents for family.   What Grandparents don’t want gorgeous photos of their kids and Grandkids as a Christmas gift? These shoots are for immediate family only and not suited to extended families so you would need to book a full family session for that.

Pets are very welcome and we can get some photos of you all together and also some of them by themselves.

As I mentioned the shoots are 30 or 40 minutes long and are only available on set dates and times which you can see below and once the dates are booked up, this special offer and price will not be made available again until next Autumn so don’t miss out and book your shoot now! Four Sessions have already been snapped up within a few minutes of going live!!!

When are they happening?

Saturday Oct 7th, 14th, 15th and 23rd.

at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30, 2pm or 3.30pm.  If all these times aren’t showing up when you click the booking link, it means those slots have already been booked and are no longer available.

Where? –  at our Family Farm, Stoke By Clare, Suffolk.

I can cater for Babies and Children of all ages including teens and toddlers, although it’s not ideal for Newborns as it can take a while to settle newborns and if the weather is cold then will need to be well wrapped up and then you can easily lose them in blankets and coats.   So it’s better suited to older babies that are able to hold their heads up independently.

What if the leaves on the trees haven’t turned brown by the time of the shoot?

To be fair, that is something I don’t have a lot of control over but last year we had the best colour in the leaves in October which is why we have chosen that month to do the shoot.  And if the leaves on the trees are still green, we can still get an Autumnal feel to your images by choosing clothing in Autumnal colours as we have done in the images below.  Think rusty colours, Mustard, tan, Maroon, but also dark purple, navy and Olive green.    Choosing the right clothes will make all the difference.  I’ve also purposely set the times for the shoots to be earlier in the morning or late afternoon with the hope that we might get some golden light streaming through the trees.  Again, I can’t control this but I can keep my fingers crossed! If the weather is too bad on the day of the shoot, don’t worry, we will just reschedule to a mutually beneficial date and time. If you would like to read more advice on what to wear for your photoshoot, I have written a blog post on the topic here: https://www.alisonmckennyphotography.com/what-to-wear-for-your-photo-shoot/

What do you need to wear and bring with you?

I would wear something that makes you look cosy and warm, so think wool or fur or leather, preferably in muted rustic tones as mentioned above.   I’d avoid bright colours as they are more summery and avoid black as it sucks the colour out of outdoor photos.   Even dark grey or navy is better than black as it has a bit of warmth to it. Bring hats, scarves, gloves if you have them, gilets, jackets or coats but try not to bring anything too bulky as it will just make you look bigger in the photos and it’s not as flattering as form-fitting outfits.   Thin layers are best if it’s a bit chilly that day rather than big heavy coats. Also think about your footwear.  Leather boots or (clean) wellies are best as they are what most of us wear in Autumn, whereas trainers or sandals are best suited to summer shoots. If you are unsure of what to wear, lay out your outfits on the floor or bed and send me a photo so I can see how all the colours work together.  I might have the odd item that will work well with your choices, or I could suggest something else if it’s not quite working.   I’m always happy to help to ensure we get the best look for the shoot.

How much do the sessions cost?

The price for the sessions are as follows:
£199 for a 30 min shoot plus x3 Digital images
£249 for a 40 min shoot plus x5 Digital images.
Payment is taken in full on booking and unfortunately, I can’t hold dates or times for anyone to keep it fair to all my clients.

After your shoot, you will be sent a link to your gallery of the best 10 to 15 images from your shoot for you to choose your favourites from.  The gallery will be open for 48 hours, unedited and watermarked but all the images you include in your package will be fully edited before they are sent back to you and I aim to get your photos back to you within 2 weeks. Additional Digitals can be bought once you’ve seen your gallery of images for £50 each. Frames, Canvases, Mounted Prints, Folio Boxes, and Albums are also available for purchase.
