The Smart Family Shoot on Southwold beach in Suffolk

Jan 27, 2016 | Family shoot

This was one of my favourite shoots of 2015!  The smart family had been given a gift voucher of a shoot with us, and chose to do a family session on the beach as the seaside has always been very special to them.  In fact Helen and Gareth had gotten married on the beach in South Africa!  To ensure we got the best light and least amount of public in the background, I urged the family to meet me there early (8.30am) as the light is so much softer and more flattering on the skin, and also on a Sunday morning at that time, I knew the beach wouldn’t be too busy.   They were happy to oblige me and I’m so glad they did, as we had a wonderful time for those two hours during the session.  Their children were bright and bubbly, and had lots of fun playing in the sand dunes and jumping from the beach groins into Daddy’s arms.   I loved every minute of it and we got some really special images that really captured this family at a gorgeous time in their lives as a result!

With family Photo Shoots, I am happy to do them inside or outside, depending on the weather (as I have a studio too) but most clients with children this age opt to have them taken outside, either on our private family farm, or at a location of their choice.   They are a great opportunity for you to capture your family and ensure you are all present in the photos (how many of you have tonnes of photos of your kids but none with you in it???), as photos of a child with their Parents will be so precious to your children to have those images, especially as they get older.  They really don’t care if you are not looking your best or if you could afford to lose half a stone, all they see is the love in your eyes!

In fact,  a lot of my clients book shoots with me every year, or every two years and use the images in Albums or to update their framed prints on the wall, and I can guarantee your children will love to look back on these images as they grow.   It is also scientifically proven that seeing photos of themselves displayed around the family home, helps to boost children’s self esteem as they know that their Parents are proud of them.
